The Problem
Transparency alone does not stop losses
Many systems show which tag was scanned and where. However, they do not explain where your process stalls, why textiles disappear, or which step is costing you money.

01
Lost Textiles
Stocks disappear without a clear reason, location, or responsible process step.

02
Manual Tracking
Spreadsheets and scattered data slow down teams and provide unreliable information.

03
Long Lead Times
Delays and bottlenecks often only impact service and costs late in the process.

04
Unnoticed Wear-Out
Washing cycles and textile lifecycles are not consistently monitored.

What is RFID?
RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. In simple terms, RFID allows an object to be identified wirelessly using radio waves.
A passive UHF (Ultra High Frequency) RFID tag contains a small chip and antenna and does not require its own battery. An RFID reader sends radio-frequency energy through its antenna. The RFID tag uses energy from that signal to activate its chip and communicate its stored identification information back to the reader.
Moreover, if UHF Tags are not a good fit for your system, we also offer HF (High Frequency) and LF (Low Frequency) Tags.
What can be tracked with RFID?
Almost anything can be tracked with RFID, we have Tags that specifically designed to track garments. These tags are flexible, can withstand heat and liquid. But if you’re planning to track your non-garment products, we also have Adhesive Tags, that you can simply attach to a box or on the product itself to track.
What is the difference between RFID, NFC, QR codes and other identification technologies?
| Property | RFID | NFC | QR | Barcodes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Technology | Radio waves | Specialized radio waves | 2D Matrix scan | 1D Linear scan |
| Data capacity | Medium (up to a few KB) | Medium (Up to a few KB) | High (~4000 Chars) | Very low (20-80 chars) |
| Read range | 100+ Meters | Less than 10 meters | Several meters | Inches to a few feet |
| Line of sight | Not required | Not required | Required | Required |
| Data Flow | Read/Write | Two-way communication | Read-only | Read-only |
| Cost | Medium (Tags & Readers | Medium (Chips in smart devices) | Free to print/generate | Lowest (to print) |
Can RFID work without line of sight?
RFID Tags does not necessarily require direct line of sight, and multiple tagged items can be identified automatically and simultaneously, depending on the application and environment.
Can RFID tags withstand industrial washing, heat or harsh environments?
Yes, when you use the correct transponder. With Leanwave’s deep background in textile management, we know that commercial laundries and workwear processing require maximum durability. We select and supply heat-sealed, stitched RFID tags tailored to resist mechanical pressure, high heat, and harsh laundry chemicals so your track-and-trace stays accurate for the entire lifecycle of the garment.
How many items can be identified at once?
Depends on the technology & the environment, the number of simultaneously identifiable tags are different. But worry not, our specialist will inspect your infrastructures, resources, requirements and tell you on the spot how the efficiency is going to look like before installation
Can RFID be used on metal or other difficult materials?
Yes, while we focus in the textile industry, we also designed Tags tailored for those who want to track more than just garments.
How does a typical Leanwave project start?
The process begins with understanding your needs and what you’ve already had in your systems. After that we will consult and discover a solution that works revolving around your existing environment.
Do you offer pilot projects or proof-of-concept testing?
Yes, we do. If the circumstance requires or per your request, we will gladly conduct a pilot project or proof-of-concept test in order to ensure the main project will operate smoothly/
Can you test the solution in our actual operating environment?
For most of our projects we proactively suggest a pre-visit to the site in order for our specialists to assess the conditions of your company and determine which technology fits best. After that a test of the solution in actual operating environment is highly suggested to ensure that the installations afterwards will be smoothly conducted.
